Trump points to Paul Weiss’s law firm, restricting government access

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday that suspended the security authorizations of Mark Pomrantz and those who work in Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. The order also restricts government access to lawyers and employees in the law firm based in New York.

“Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order to suspend security authorizations in Person’s power in Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP (Paul Weiss) pending a review of whether such authorizations are consistent with national interest, “the White House He said on an information sheet.

Pomrantz supervised the investigation of the Manhattan district prosecutor’s office on Trump and his commercial practices.

In particular, the executive order was signed the same day Trump spoke in the Department of Justice, where he attacked those who processed him.

The new executive order is the third time that Trump takes measures against a law firm. On Wednesday, a federal judge temporarily blocked parts of Trump’s executive order addressed to Perkins Coie, ruling that the order was unconstitutional.

The language in this executive order reflects that of the order that was addressed to Perkins Coie.

Judge Beryl Howell said the actions taken by the Trump administration aimed at these companies are “terrifying” for the legal community and pointed out that the support arguments of the Department of Justice sent me “relax.”

This firm also has other high -profile Democrats between its ranks, including former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and former National Secretary of National Security Jey Johnson, and was among the greatest donors of the Democrats and former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 elections.

“The executive order focuses on the activities of Mark Pomrantz, who retired from the firm in 2012 and worked in the district prosecutor’s office almost a decade later,” said Paul Weiss in a statement to ABC News. “Mr. Pomrantz has not been affiliated with the firm for years. The terms of a similar order were ordered as unconstitutional earlier this week by a federal judge of the District Court.
