An alleged key figure in the mortal of August 2021 suicide bombings aimed at American soldiers in Abbey Gate during the removal of Afghanistan appeared in a federal court in Virginia after his extradition to the United States.
Mohammad Sharifullah, described by the Department of Justice as an ISIS-K operation, made a brief hearing of first appearance on Wednesday afternoon in the Federal Court of Alexandria for a position for allegedly orchestrating the attack that killed 13 US military members and approximately 160 civilians.
Sharifullah spoke softly as he answered the questions of a magistrate judge about whether he understood his constitutional rights. Through an interpreter, he recognized the federal position he faces, conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist group, which entails a maximum life sentence of life imprisonment if he is convicted.
He was flanked by three American bailiffs during the audience.
The magistrate judge ordered a detention and a preliminary hearing for Monday. The Government will seek its continuous arrest waiting for trial.

Pakistani special forces recently captured Sharifullah along the Pakistani/Afghan border, according to a Pakistani intelligence official familiar with the operation. He was extradited to the United States on Tuesday night, according to FBI director Kash Patel.
During an interview with the FBI agents on Sunday in an unleashed place, Sharifulla allegedly admitted his participation in three important terrorist attacks, including that of Abbey Gate, according to a criminal complaint.
Sharifulla allegedly helped plan the operation of the Abbey Gate, including surveillance on a route for the attacker near Hamid Karzai International Airport, according to the complaint.
Sharifulla also revealed that he played a role in the suicide bombing aimed at the United States Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, in June 2016 that killed 10 guards from the embassy and wounded other soldiers that guarded the Canadian embassy, according to the complaint.
As part of its service to ISIS-K, Sharifullah supposedly made surveillance “to be able to prepare the suicide bomber and transport it to the target area” in Kabul, according to the complaint.
The bomber then used an “improvised explosive device with the body to perform the attack,” the complaint declared.
Sharifulla also admitted to having played a role in an ISIS-K attack in a concert place near Moscow in March 2024 that killed more than 130 people, according to the complaint.
The suspect was supposedly involved in more than 30 terrorist attacks, according to the Pakistani intelligence official.
He was in jail in Afghanistan from 2016 to 2021, according to the official.
It is believed that he was released by the Taliban in the waning days when the Afghan Republic collapsed.
