The Democratic mayors of Boston, Chicago, Denver and New York City retreated Wednesday against the Republicans of the House of Representatives that they are hosting dangerous immigrants and violating immigration laws such as the so -called “Santuario cities.”
During a hearing of the Chamber’s Supervision Committee on Wednesday, Mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu, the mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, the mayor of Denver, Mike Johnston, and the mayor of the city of New York, Eric Adams, defended their actions on the application of immigration in their respective cities as republicans in the committee that accused them of increasing them. crime and preventing the actions of the law.
President James Eat, Republican, said that these mayors lead cities that have policies that only create “sanctuary for criminals” and promised to hold them responsible for “their inability to follow the law and protect the US people.” Eating and other Republicans in the committee suggested that mayors should be doing more to cooperate with the Trump administration and their deportation efforts.

The Sanctuary cities still enforce federal federal immigration laws, but the term often refers to a limited collaboration with the application of immigration and customs of the United States while promulgating policies that are more favorable for undocumented people.
“As mayor, I do not control who enters or remains in our country, but I have to administer the population within our city,” said Adams, who said as mayor of New York City that he is working with the Trump administration in immigration aid. “To carry out this function without having a long -term negative branch, I must create an atmosphere that allows all residents respectful of the law, documented or not, access vital services without fear of being delivered to federal authorities.”

Wu said the Trump administration is making workers residents, who pay taxes and fear God who are afraid to live their lives. “
“A city that is afraid is not a safe city. A land governed by fear is not the land of free,” Wu said.

The Democrats immediately criticized the Trump administration, arguing that the overreach of federal officials has led to illegal arrests and created fear in the communities.
“Let us be clear, the state and local laws with which Republicans take into account today comply with federal law. They do not obstruct the ice to carry out their functions, and are backed by evidence that show that they keep the people safe,” said the classification member Gerry Connolly.
The Wednesday committee hearing occurs when the officials of the administration of President Donald Trump have increased their efforts to apply immigration with Attorney General PAM Bondi closing federal subsidies to the sanctuary cities and multiple threats of “Border Czar” Tom Homan towards these mayors if they refuse to comply.
In the conservative Political Action Conference last month, Homan criticized Boston and his police commissioner, saying that “hell will bring” the city for his sanctuary city policy.
“Let’s talk about Tom Homan,” Wu said on Wednesday. “What a shame about lying about my city, for having the impudence of insulting our police commissioner who has supervised Boston’s safest in anyone’s life. Bring it here under oath and ask some questions.”

The mayors retreated the statements of the Republicans that they are welcoming criminals to their cities, blaming the Trump administration for labeling immigrants as criminals and pressing statistics of deceptive crimes.
“If you wanted to get safe, approve weapons reforms,” Wu added later. “Stop cutting Medicaid. Stop cutting cancer research. Stop cutting backgrounds for veterans. That is what will make our cities safe.”
Many Republican legislators indicated specific incidents in each of the mayor’s cities about US citizens who are injured or murdered at the hands of undocumented people, trying to dissipate the arguments of the mayors.
Republican representative Jim Jordan got into a stary life with Johnston involving a member of a Venezuelan gang that wounded the officers during an arrest. Due to the policy of the State’s sanctuary city, the Police were forced to arrest the man in public instead of traveling to jail to stop him, something that Republicans criticized.
Republican representative Nancy Mace had hard words for mayors, saying “all of you have blood in their hands” for deaths and injuries at the hands of these undocumented people.
“All mayors here are actively working to damage the American people they represent,” Mace said. “Everyone has blood in your hands.”
When the members of the committee accused the mayors of interfering with Trump’s deportation efforts, the mayors continued to affirm that they complied with the federal law.
However, Republican representative Anna Paulina Luna disputed the mayor’s claims and argued that the policies of the Sanctuary city violated the federal law, announcing that she was going to send criminal references to the Department of Justice.
“I do not think you are bad people, but I think you are ideologically cheated, so, unfortunately, depending on your answers, I will all refer to it criminally to the Department of Justice for your investigation, and as soon as I leave here, they will go to Pam Bondi,” Luna said.
“I’m not doing that … [in] An effort to intimidate them, but I think their policies are hurting the American people. “
